1. Briefly tell us what your everyday working life at parcelLab looks like
I think I have one of the most diverse jobs at parcelLab – no day is ever the same. That being said, I do try to start my day with the same routine: I usually start at 8:30am (or 9:00am if I’m struggling to get out of bed), turn on my laptop and have my bowl of cereal. After checking my emails and taking a quick look at our student task board, I start my day properly. My tasks change daily, from the creation of advertising materials, such a career flyers, to working on videos for our customer success stories, and everything else in between.
2. Tell us about your professional career
Nothing spectacular so far, but I’m still young after all! It all started in elementary school in Oberstimm in 2005. After that I went to Katharinen High School in Ingolstadt, and I also spent three months at a German high school in Barcelona. From 2015 to 2018, I attended a technical college in Ingolstadt in the International Business branch. In October 2018 I started studying Media Management in Munich, focusing on brand communication and advertising, which I am still studying. I have done internships at a law firm and Audi AG and also worked part-time as a football coach, but parcelLab is my first professional job.
3. What do you like most about parcelLab and your job?
I like that the tasks are very varied and that you take on a lot of responsibility as a working student. I also have a great deal of freedom in the way I structure my day – as long as I complete things by the deadline.
4. In your opinion, what makes parcelLab unique?
Everyone helps everyone and you can tell that “team spirit” is very important here. It is also nice to see how fast we are growing and that there are always new faces.
5. What are the characteristics of the perfect parcelLab candidate?
They need to show their motivation to succeed in the job right from the start. Also, they should be ambitious and like to challenge themselves. Most importantly, they need to be a team player. If they bring all of these qualities and can also score above 8 on Hau den Lukas (sledgehammer game), then their chances are pretty good .
6. How would you describe the working atmosphere at parcelLab?
It is always very relaxed at parcelLab, because you can organise your day and work freely. But you should always be ready for a nerf attack by the “enemy” team. #TeamMarketing are the best though so make sure you join us and you’ll be safe !
7. What was your favourite moment at parcelLab so far? And why?
I’m not the kind of person that focuses on particular moments, but Taco Tuesdays and the various company events are definitely highlights for me. From a ‘work perspective’, my biggest highlight is completing the customer success story video for MediaMarktSaturn, which we drove specially to Inglostadt to film.
8. What qualities and strengths have you gained during your time at parcelLab?
I have been able to apply a lot of theoretical knowledge from university to everyday work, which has been great to see how things work in practice. Due to my different tasks, it was also necessary to learn how to use new programs, such as PowerPoint and Photoshop.
9. What challenges have you had to face during your time at parcelLab and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge was definitely translating the website into English. Everything was already prepared in a sheet and all I had to do was replace the German wording in the HTML code with the English one. But for someone who had never worked with HTML code before, finding my way around it was very challenging. However in retrospect, I am very happy I did this as I was able to learn a lot about the structure of HTML. Plus, I was proud when I saw the finished result.
10. What makes Munich so attractive for you?
It is a big city with a heart. Munich really quickly became my second home. I feel really comfortable here – in every season. There’s always something going on.
11. How would you spend your perfect weekend?
Friday night’s are mostly for watching ice hockey – I like to follow my favourite team in Inglostadt. Otherwise, I like to spend time with friends and family or go on weekend city breaks.
12. What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
- Committed & motivated
- Very adaptable & independent
