Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Engineering

parcelLab, the leading Operations Experience Management platform, is growing internationally, and fast! We're looking for the best talent from across the world to help us bring people and brands closer together.
We are looking for a full-time Site Reliability Engineer (all levels) to join our Global Engineering team. In this role, you will be part of our Site Reliability team, taking key responsibility for shaping infrastructure on multiple continents and providing tools and self-developed software libraries to the other squads so they can deliver faster on their own.
As a digital-first company, we offer greater flexibility in working location. Therefore, you can work from one of our offices in London or Munich or remotely within the UK, Germany, or Spain.

What you can expect:

  • Be part of the Infrastructure squad and take the ownership of core resources, with the aim to expose interfaces to the other teams so they can provision them on their own, under your guidance
  • There are legacy and resources not defined with code. However, we are already setting IaC and we have a plan to incrementally reduce legacy. We can promise that you will be an important piece in finishing up that migration and that you will have all the support you need in doing so
  • Play a key role in the core strategy of the company: you are significantly responsible for our overall success and your feedback and expertise are taken into consideration in the roadmap planning
  • As one of the first SREs in a company with fast growth, you will be essential in defining how we apply cloud-native architecture and DevOps principles at parcelLab
  • A career track where you do not need to have had previous people management experience in order to succeed, grow, and be acknowledged

What you need to succeed:

  • Track record in creating and managing IaC in a cloud provider like AWS, GCP, or Azure. Extensive knowledge in AWS is a plus
  • Solve infrastructure and operation problems with code
  • Experience in defining infrastructure at scale with Terraform
  • Very good knowledge of git, development workflow automation, and CI (Github Actions or similar)
  • Previous experience, or a strong interest in CD with GitOps as well as Cloud-native as well as being a DevOps enthusiast
  • Used to create software tools that enable other teams to deliver and monitor their software applications end-to-end
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and have set up and managed clusters with ArgoCD (or similar). Experience with EKS is a plus
  • Practical knowledge in managing API Gateways (Nginx, Envoy, Traefik...)
  • Understanding data privacy and security policies and help us to shape them and to protect user data
  • Comfortable helping teams to define monitoring and alerting rules. In addition, you have created and maintained alerting and monitoring systems like Prometheus, and central logging infrastructure like the ELK stack, Datadog, or similar
  • Fluency in English, great technical communication skills, and eagerness to share with the open-source community Exposure to documentation and process definition like SLIs and SLOs, incident management, capacity planning, and toil management is a plus
  • The most important one: willingness to learn. We are growing and constantly learning new things, and we enjoy that a lot. As the technology landscape is changing fast and we are coping with such change, we do not expect to find people with experience in all those technologies. If you are excited about our tech stack and you think you are a fast learner, do not hesitate to apply!
