The most important at a glance

Name: Robin Marsh

Age: 20 years

Position at parcelLab: Design & Brand Assistant

Origin: Ingolstadt

1. Briefly tell us what your usual working day at parcelLab is like?

I think I have one of the most diverse jobs at parcelLab - so there has never been a day that has gone the same way. At least my morning routine is the same: I usually start at 8:30am (if it's harder to get out of bed again at 09:00am), boot up my laptop and grab some cereal. After checking my e-mails and taking a quick look at our working student board, I start with my tasks. These are completely varied: from the creation of advertising materials, such as a career flyer, to the production of a customer success story in the form of a video, almost everything has been included.

2. What does your professional career look like?

So far not so spectacular, but I'm still young. It all started in elementary school in Oberstimm in 2005, after which I went on to Katharinen Gymnasium Ingolstadt and in between to the German Gymnasium in Barcelona for three months. From 2015 to 2018 I attended the Fachoberschule in Ingolstadt in the branch International Business. Since October 2018, I have been studying media management with a focus on brand communication and advertising in Munich. parcelLab is my first professional stop, in addition to two internships at a law firm and Audi AG, and a part-time job as a soccer coach.

3. What do you like most about parcelLab and your job?

I like that the tasks are very versatile and that you can already take on a lot of responsibility as a working student. I also have a lot of freedom in the way I do my work - as long as I do everything conscientiously by the deadline.

4. What makes parcelLab unique in your opinion?

Everybody helps everybody and you can tell that "team spirit" is very important here. It's also great to see how fast we're growing and that new faces are joining all the time.

5. What are the characteristics of the perfect parcelLab applicant?

He should definitely have a desire for the job and show this motivation right from the start. He should also be ambitious and like to challenge himself. The fact that he is a team player is also very important to us. If he has all these qualities and manages an additional 8 in the "Hau den Lukas" competition, then his chances are very good.

6. How would you describe the working atmosphere at parcelLab?

The fact that you can organize your day yourself and freely arrange your work means that it is always very relaxed and easy-going here. However, you should always be ready for a nerf attack by the "enemy" team. But if you join the winning team #marketingbüro, you already have good cards anyway.

7. What has been your favorite moment at parcelLab so far? And why?

There are a lot here and I'm not the kind of person to pin everything down to one moment. But you can definitely highlight the shared Taco Tuesdays and various company events. From a "work" perspective, it was the completion of the Customer Success Story video, for which we drove to MediaMarktSaturn in Ingolstadt.

8. What qualities and strengths did you gain during your time at parcelLab?

I was able to apply a lot of theoretical knowledge from university in real everyday work and also see how things work in practice. Due to my different tasks, it is also necessary to get deeper into a certain subject and thanks to many tutorials I was able to learn a lot more in programs such as PowerPoint or Photoshop.

9. What challenges have you already had to face during your time at parcelLab and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge was definitely translating the website into English. Everything was already prepared in a sheet and I just had to replace the German wording with the English in the HTML code. But for someone who has never seen HTML code before and had to find his way around it, it was very challenging. But in retrospect I was very happy, because I could learn a lot about the structure of HTML and of course you are proud when you see the finished result.

10. What makes Munich so attractive to you?

It is a big city with heart. Munich has really become my second home very quickly. I feel really comfortable here - at any time of year. There's just always something going on here.

11. How would you spend your perfect weekend?

Most Friday nights are for ice hockey, and that's when I really enjoy following my favorite club in Ingolstadt. Otherwise, I like to spend a lot of time with friends and family or take short city trips over the weekend.

12. Which three terms would your colleagues use to describe you?

  • Reliable
  • Dedicated & motivated
  • Very capable of learning & independent
