The most important at a glance

Name: Christoph Pirkl

Age: 33 years

Position at parcelLab: Head of Sales

Origin: Straubing in Lower Bavaria

1. Briefly tell us what your usual working day at parcelLab looks like?

I wouldn't call it everyday life in sales. The activities in the start-up environment are too diverse and different every day. Everyday life is more likely to be the first coffee I treat myself to after I arrive at the office. Otherwise, I take care of my own business first (answering emails, etc.) before I devote myself to my team to support them in their daily tasks.

2. What does your professional career look like?

I started out in the classic way with a vocational training as an insurance salesman and remained true to this industry for years before moving into the software environment after studying in the meantime.

3. What do you like most about parcelLab and your job?

What I like about parcelLab is the open way things are approached. No one takes themselves too seriously here. From working students to management, I think everyone feels equal and valued. You can feel this every day and it is also reflected in the way people work. What I like most about my job is the daily contact with all kinds of people. That's why I've always remained loyal to sales.

4. What makes parcelLab unique in your opinion?

The "flat hierarchies", which are not just a phrase here, but actually lived and exemplified.

5. What are the characteristics of the perfect parcelLab applicant?

For me, he or she should above all have the ability to work in a team and a hands-on mentality.

6. How would you describe the working atmosphere at parcelLab?

Just super relaxed. I enjoy the trust and also allow myself time off (power nap at lunchtime ). But then I'm happy to pay them back again.

7. What has been your favorite moment at parcelLab so far? And why?

Winning a startup award for the best pitch in Paris. Winning in France with an English-language pitch certainly doesn't happen every day either.

8. What qualities and strengths were you able to gain during your time at parcelLab?

My understanding of complex problems in the e-commerce environment. But probably most importantly, my leadership skills, which I was able to gain through my own team and its development and expansion.

9. What challenges did you already have to face during your time at parcelLab and how did you overcome them?

Sales, you're challenged by your goals every day anyway, but pitches

in front of a larger audience are always a great opportunity to

to challenge yourself.

10. What makes Munich so attractive for you?

I'm only here because of my fiancée. That's reason enough. Otherwise, Munich is already "quite okay".

11. How would you spend your perfect weekend?

I prefer to spend the weekends with long walks with our dog in the northern part of the English Garden or on the peaks in the Alps. In the evenings then quite cozy with friends over a glass (or bottle) of wine.

12. What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

  • Optimistic

    (Thank you Isabel)

  • Helpful

    (Thank you Isabel)

  • Dynamic
