The most important at a glance

Name: Angus Knights

Age: 26

Position at parcelLab: UK Partnership Manager

Origin: The New Forest, Hampshire, UK

1. Briefly tell us what your usual working day is like at parcelLab?

No two days are the same! I often work from our office in Hammersmith (London), answering emails and sitting with our tech team to develop the best solution for our customers. Other days I'm on the road, traveling around the country (and beyond) to meet with our partners and customers.

2. What is your professional career like?

I got into the business development/sales field rather by accident when I was working at a speech recognition startup that was looking for sales support. Over the past few years, I've been fortunate enough to try out different areas: I cut my teeth as a Sales Development Representative (SDR) and implemented new processes and systems in Sales. After two great years at Speechmatics, I moved to parcelLab and now have the pleasure of managing a full sales cycle from start to close. Along the way, my responsibilities include other exciting projects.

3. What do you like most about parcelLab and your job?

I like the trust and responsibility that the founders and the team give to each employee. You have a lot of freedom and can implement your ideas independently - that's a great feeling. The employees are the company's greatest asset - it's a really positive environment.

4. What do you think makes parcelLab unique?

We are operating in a completely new field - optimizing the customer's customer experience after they click the "buy" button. Being in such a new and fast growing business model is very unique and fun.

5. What are the characteristics of the perfect parcelLab applicant?

Good parcelLab candidates must be able to work independently and have initiative and motivation. This is necessary to manage your own workload and to manage tasks. No one will be constantly looking over your shoulder or checking up on you!

6. How would you describe the working atmosphere at parcelLab?

The working atmosphere at parcelLab is great. We are a fast-growing company and you can immediately feel that we are on a mission - to improve the post-purchase customer experience. But even when everyone is very busy, the team always has time for you when you need it.

7. What has been your favorite moment at parcelLab so far? And why?

It was super exciting to win our first UK customer for us! I feel like it was a confirmation that our platform adds a lot of value to our target audience. Since then, we also have more confidence to make many new partnerships soon.

8. What qualities and strengths have you been able to add during your time at parcelLab?

parcelLab has definitely helped me improve my time management. There are so many component in the whole sales cycle that need to be carefully balanced. It has helped me build my confidence and skills in customer-facing activities. I have learned to ask the right questions to the customer and listen carefully to what they have to say. And this learning process is still not reaching its limits.

9. What challenges have you already had to face during your time at parcelLab and how did you overcome them?

It was a challenge to start in a new market with little brand awareness. I think we pulled together as a team and made tangible progress in that regard over the course of the last 12 months. In the process, we covered a long and hard road! But it's paying off when we look at our successes.

10. What makes London so attractive to you?

London is an extremely exciting city! There is so much going on and something for everyone. I love the diversity of the city and there are so many events, performances, exhibitions, so you only have time to visit a fraction of them.

11. How would you spend your perfect weekend?

As my colleagues know, I usually like to be on two wheels (bikes - I leave the motorcycles to Donny ). I'm also an aspiring chef, so I usually spend the weekend eating and riding my bike.

12. What three terms would your colleagues use to describe you?

Hopeless plant lover
