Now it's really getting serious soon! As of May 25, the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force and replace the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) that has been in force in Germany up to now. Strictly speaking, it has actually been in force since May 2016 - but only now does it actually have to be implemented. May 25 is the deadline, so to speak - for those who still do not comply after this date, it can be expensive. The whitepaper: DSGVO - Transaction-based customer communication.

In case there is still some confusion, here is the most basic question: What is the new GDPR all about and does it also affect my company?

The EU GDPR regulates the processing of personal data and places it under unprecedented protection. It applies to EVERY company that is active on the Internet and has its registered office in the EU or processes personal data of EU citizens. No matter how small or large it is or how much revenue it generates.

The GDPR has some rules for shipping communications

.

One point that therefore raises many questions, especially for online retailers, is customer communication. Which emails are you still allowed to send to customers? And is it even still possible to add further content, such as advertising, to them? After all, the period of time until the customer actually holds his product in his hands is a very critical part of the customer journey.
