Landshut/Munich, August 31, 2016 – Munich-based tech startup parcelLab GmbH has successfully closed a seed financing round. Bayern Kapital and four renowned business angels invest a high six-figure amount in the company. parcelLab will use the capital from the financing round  to further intensify development and sales and to continue its international growth.

parcelLab supports online stores in optimizing the shopping experience for the customer during shipping. Delays in delivery are detected via an innovative algorithm and communicated to the customer with automated customer communication via various channels such as email or SMS. It is no longer the shipping service providers that communicate with the customer, but the online retailer itself that stays in contact with the customer through personalized texts and offers: All emails are in the retailer’s CI, and shipping tracking also takes place directly in the store. Positive events such as pickup notifications or delivery announcements are also communicated, which provides additional touchpoints.

In addition, parcelLab provides every online retailer with a precise breakdown of the logistics service provider’s shipping performance, which brings transparency to the delivery process and shows when service level agreements and actual shipping performance differ. The integration into the online store succeeds with a simple system integration. With this solution, parcelLab creates an increased level of transparency in shipping in order to reduce costs in logistics and customer service and at the same time generate additional revenue through untapped sales potential.

“With its business idea and innovative technology, parcelLab offers clear technological and financial added value to mail order companies. We are convinced that parcelLab will position itself excellently with its product solutions in a market segment that continues to grow. We are therefore pleased to be able to support parcelLab with our financing together with a consortium of industry-experienced business angels”,  explains Roman Huber, one of the managing directors of Bayern Kapital.

Anton Eder, founder and CEO of parcelLab, says: “Especially in the highly competitive e-commerce sector with companies like Amazon or Zalando, our technology can offer a decisive competitive advantage to many retailers. We are very happy to have strong partners with Bayern Kapital and experienced business angels who support our vision.”
